Pairing a Garmin device with Wikiloc was the first hurdle standing between a user and automatic trail sync. The existing flow relied on generic account-linking screens that didn't feel native to either platform, and users often weren't sure whether the pairing had actually worked before heading out.

A code, not a login screen

I designed a device-code pairing flow modelled after patterns people already trust from smart TVs and consoles: the watch displays a short code, the user enters it on their phone or computer at a simple, memorable URL, and the two accounts link immediately with clear confirmation on both screens. No app installs, no generic OAuth screens. Just a watch, a code, and a confirmation.
